Having heard the flute sound,
I thought that Shyama Ray (Lord Krsna) had come today.

I sit and await Him,
on the bank of my mental Yamuna river.

Numerous people came and went.
Many did not want to return.
I came alone and remained alone.
Alas, eternal companion,
You remained distant.

Will not the flow of the Yamuna river reverse?
Will it not fulfil my earnest desire of love?

Besides keeping me away from You,
what else do You think of,
performing the divine play with light and shade?
