Where have those nights gone, today?
There is no moon in the sky of Vraja
(the childhood place of Krs'n'a).

The water flowing in the
Jamuna river has dried up.
What distress has occured to our Gopal?

We searched all over in the forests of Vrindavan,
no one is seen with a smiling face.
The devotees are crying: "Where is He?"
Now there is no more light,
but only pitch darkness.

There is no peacock dance on the tama'l trees.
There is no flower decoration on the kadamba trees.
A thunderbolt has fallen
on everyone's hopes.
The once smiling sea now carries waves of gloom.
