When was that effulgent morning, long ago,
when I first met You?
I cannot recall the day
or the circumstances.

I was once arrogant, full of pride,
cultivating bookish knowledge
with my shallow intellect.

I finally sank to my knees
due to shame and fear,
yet could not understand
or come to know You.

Even after imbibing philosophy,
I did not attain You;
merely realising that materialistic science
had destroyed humanity.

At last, in the surrender of devotion
I found You close to me.
