O dear companion,
come to my village
that lies beyond the suvarn'areka' river.

When walking along the sea side
through sand heaps,
the sun rises,
colouring the sky and the sea.
It awakens colours within my mind
and provides infinite joy.

In the groves of almonds and cashew nuts,
colourful birds ever dance.
The rivereagle flies far off.
The boatman releases his boat
into the river current.
He rushes towards the sea,
forgetting all his worries.

........................................................

O my dearest friend,
come to my village
on the banks of the Suvarnarekha river,
come to that river.

The path leads across the dunes by the sea.
When the sun rises there,
the sky and the sea bloom with colour.
That colour awakens my mind
and gives me infinite pleasure.

In the cashew nut orchard
the coloured birds always dance.
The hawks fly over to unknown places.

The sailor starts his journey
Hearing the far song of the rivers current.
He moves towards the sea
without any other thought in mind.
