KRS'N'A SONGS

Since, his early childhood, the depth of Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar’s knowledge about Krsna and the Mahabharata was well-known. He would give photographic descriptions of different events of this time period, many of these events being unrecorded in a book. Right since the inception of Ananda Marga, Shrii Sarkar revealed hitherto unknown facts about Krsna. In one of his earliest discourses, “The Base and The Relative Truth” on May 6, 1955, he revealed the date of the Mahabharata war as having taken place 3253 years ago.

On December 10, 1964, Shrii Sarkar gave a discourse on “The Field of Dharma” in which he revealed the yogic significance of the Mahabharata war. On August 20, 1967, Shrii Sarkar began a series of discourses on the Mahabharata. In these discourses, he revealed the true facts about Krsna and his times such as the educational system, food & dress, and the social structure. In particular, he highlighted the difference between the spiritual morality of Krsna and the traditional morality of society. He also highlighted the yogic significance of the Mahabharata. On January 15, 1980, Shrii Sarkar gave his discourse “Krsna Unparalleled” in which he discussed the relationship of Krsna liila with kundalini yoga.

From August 1980 to April 1981, Shrii Sarkar gave a series of discourses on Krsna’s two roles of Vraja Krsna and Parthasarathi Krsna that were later compiled into the scripture, Namami Krsna Sundaram. This was not merely a revelation of Krsna social role role as a fighter against injustice, it was a revelation of the spiritual foundations of dharma yuddha or the fight against exploitation and injustice. Shrii Sarkar revealed a new sense of dharma different from prevailing religious interpretations. In addition, Shrii Sarkar showed how the various traditional philosophies and mythologies were completely incapable of comprehending Krsna both in launching social revolution and raditating devotional bliss. Finally Shrii Sarkar, revealed how Krsna’s very existence inaugurated a new dimension of human experience; namely supra-aesthetics or the science of how the Supreme Beloved attracts and loves His creation.
